On December 14, 2019 Alabama will celebrate its 200 birthday.  200AL is  a three year birthday celebration honoring our places, our people , our stories.
The Alabama Territory was created from the Mississippi Territory in 1817,  Alabama became a  state on  December 14, 1819 , the twenty-second state of the United States .
 Local Communities have been encouraged to participate in the birthday celebration  with activities that shine a light on what makes your  community special. The 200AL Commission has established themes  for each years celebration; 2017 Explore Our Places, 2018, Honoring our people, 2019 Sharing Our Stories.   
Alumni & Friends of Semmes School, Inc., aka Semmes Heritage Park  applied and received  Endorsement from  the 200AL Commission for the Celebrations  of the Semmes Heritage Day, Semmes Camellia Festival, and  Semmes Old Fashioned Christmas, as official events for the 200AL celebration.  We are proud for Semmes to be a recognized as part of the celebration of our great state.
